Angina
Central chest pain, perhaps radiating to the jaw or left arm provoked by exercise or other demand placed upon the heart. Upon rest the pain sometimes disappears.
Casualties are prescribed (GTN) spray or tablets. This instantly dilates the coronary arteries and allows more blood supply to the heart muscle. Casualties normally ‘self-manage’, with medication and / or rest
There is always the risk that an angina attack might develop into a heart attack, and so it is important to remain with the casualty until you are satisfied they have fully recovered.
